July 4 - July 4th!

Had a wonderful 4th of July today, except we missed our families.  We:

Woke up at 6:30 AM & left the house by 7.
Got to downtown & were amazed at the amount of people there.
Scored a great parking spot.
Watched the Balloon Festival.  (Missed the balloons taking off, but got to see a couple fly by & do some competition stuff.)Andlie was amazed.  Haze was utterly and totally delighted.  He kept pointing & saying "bizoos, wow."
Changed the kids into their 4th of July outfits & ate breakfast on the side of the road.  (Yes, including underwear & diaper changes.)  Come on, we left the house at 7:00 AM.
Went to McDonald's for breakfast.  Thought it would be a crazy long wait, but McDonald's was prepared and it was a breeze.
Ate breakfast outside on McDonald's lawn.
Walked to the parade site.
Were again amazed at the amount of people lining the streets & shocked that some would camp out over night in tents to get a good spot.
Wondered where in the world we were going to sit.  Went up & down the street.
Scored a great seat in the front for the parade.
Watched the parade.  Loved the marching bands & sparkly floats.  Oh I and I loved Nie Nie.
Bought popsicles from a smart, smart person who had set up a popsicle stand by the parade.
Sweated.  A lot.
Scorched.
Almost lit on fire it was so hot.
Left the parade early to eat lunch & cool off.
Played & played downstairs.
Had naps.  For three hours.  All of us.  Miracle.
Ate dinner outside!  Had hotdogs, corn on the cob, homemade potatoe salad, and fruit pizza.
Rolled around like Templeton from "Charlotte's Web" from all the filling food.
Lit fireworks in our driveway.
Drove to see big city fireworks.
Were amazed again at how many people were there & how many had been waiting for a loooong time to save good seats.
Scored a great parking spot & even better spot on the lawn by the temple to watch fireworks.
Ate our candy that we bought.  Daddy & Mommy got candybars.  Kids got suckers.  And sticky.  But they loved those suckers.
Watched fireworks!
Drove home.
Finally went to bed at around midnight.

It was a perfect day with my perfect family!  Happy 4th of July!
