April 17 - Day 4

Today was a good day.  My Mom went home this evening and Mindy, Granny came up to tend Andlie.  Through the entire hospital stay, Andlie was so sweet.  She was so good to everyone who tended her, but she missed her Mommy, Daddy, and Hazey.

Haze's second viral panel came back negative - again.  The doctor suggested that we do a throat swab to test for walking pneumonia.  (I think this test was done on this day, but it might have been done the day before.)  He said the only reason he wanted to do this was because if that's what it was, they could treat it with drugs.  He said if this one came back negative, we'd be done with testing.  We agreed to do the test and Haze's throat was swabbed.

Today, the doctor took Hazey off of high flow oxygen (around 3:00 PM).  His stats continued to stay right around where they should be - yay!  He was eating well.  He was starting to laugh a little bit.  Especially when Mommy would play peek-a-boo over the crib with him.

They continued to turn the regular oxygen down slowly throughout the day and at about 8:00 PM, they turned it off completely.  His stats still stayed normal!  Around 6:00 PM, they took his IV out because it was kinked.  We thought it was a good sign that they didn't put it back in.  The doctors/therapists that listened to him continued to hear wheezing and coarseness, but no diminished air sounds.  Haze wasn't working hard to breathe either.

We continued to pray pray pray.  We were incredibly thankful.
